Lightly adapted from Mama Loves Food.

photo Ingredients

Au Jus Sauce ~

  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. garlic, minced
  • 1/8 cup white wine
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp. flour

    Crescents ~

  • 2 packages reduced fat crescent rolls (8 count)
  • 1 pound thinly sliced roast beef
  • 4 ounces Swiss cheese, cut in 16 equal sized pieces

    Directions
    1) In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring.

    2) Add the white wine and deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits on the bottom. Add the Worcestershire sauce and cook for another minute, stirring. Add beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

    3) Preheat oven to 375 F. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles along the perforations. Divide the roast beef slices evenly between the crescents.

    4) For each roll, lay the roast beef slices on the wide end of the triangle, folding to fit. Top with a piece of cheese and then roll up, starting at the wider end. Arrage on baking sheets and bake for 11-13 minutes, until lightly browned.

    5) Once sauce has finished simmering, strain and return to pot (optional). Add the flour and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve along side the crescents for dipping! (a little goes a long way) These are great as appetizers, or 3-4 work well as a dinner.
